How can we foster a fervent and authentic meditation on the Gospel? Following the example of Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini, who inaugurated in Milan an original way of introducing young adults to reflecting on the Word, Marc Rastoin, a Jesuit and biblical scholar, proposes a method inspired by Saint Ignatius of Loyola. A simple presentation of the Gospel text precedes an invitation to a time of personal prayer with the Lord, in the form of a twenty-minute moment of silence. For it is truly a matter of allowing ourselves to be guided by the Spirit in our personal encounter with Christ. From the outset, the author also addresses the questions we all ask ourselves about prayer, in a world where it is often difficult to pause for it. A Jesuit, Father Marc Rastoin teaches biblical theology at the Centre Sèvres.
